About the Event

Meeting Schedule:

Everyone will meet for Low Mass at St. Francis de Sales which starts at 9:00 AM with confession available 30 minutes before Mass begins. After Mass an hour will be given for everyone to change clothes, get food, and drive to the mountain depending on your needs. Everyone should assemble at the pavillion up the hill from the visitor's center by 11:00 AM. Someone will be available to direct you there if you are not familiar with the grounds.

Parking and Transportation:

The best option for parking is the larger lot to the west of the main entrance on Old 41. On google maps it is called "Old HWY 41 Parking Lot". It is a short walk to the pavilion from there. If you need a ride, please let someone know before the event. Some  have agreed to carpool, but you need to secure a ride before the event so that you are not left behind because too many cars have filled up. Send us an email or use the facebook group to coordinate with other members if you need a ride.

Water:

Bring plenty of water! There are fountains at the park, but you will be better off brining a water bottle with filtered water.

Eating:

Some have said that they want to go out to eat after the hike. Please make a suggestion when you RSVP so we can accomodate as many people as possible. If you are not able to join us afterward, you should plan on brining something small you can take with you on the hike or eat before-hand on your way to the mountain. Keep it light! If you eat before you hike, I would not recommend eating a burger or something with heavy grease. Make a sandwich or bring a granola bar or some fruit.

Attire:

Wear comfortable tennis shoes or hiking boots. The trail is not so demanding that sneakers are out of the question, but hiking boots will help with some of the steeper, rockier sections of the trail.

Weather:

In the event of rain, we still plan on going up the mountain. If there are storms or unreasonable amounts of rain, we will call a nearby restaurant and see if they can accomodate us at short notice. There will be games in the parish hall to allow time for the restaurant to put together a reservation.
